The White Ring draws a critical interim assessment of the traffic light government. Of six major projects to prevent crime and protect victims, only one has made much progress so far.

In the opinion of the White Ring, the federal government must Victim protection still has a lot to do to implement the coalition agreements. “The traffic light government has made a lot of plans in terms of victim protection and crime prevention – we very much welcome that, but unfortunately it is clearly lagging behind in keeping its promises,” said the federal chairman of the aid organization for crime victims, Patrick Liesching, to the dpa in Mainz. The White Ring sees it as its mission to continue to monitor developments critically. “Especially in these turbulent times of crisis, savings must not be made in the wrong place.”

The White Ring cites the proposed political strategy to better protect people – especially women and children – from violence as an example. The organization also sees a significant need for action when it comes to the planned protection of children from sexual abuse. It gives a “red” on a traffic light for the implementation of both topics.

In the fight against hatred and agitation on the internet as well as in the fight against extremism and racism, the White Ring believes that the traffic light is always “yellow”. This also applies to the goal of faster and more efficient court proceedings.

In the fight against queer hostility, the White Ring definitely sees progress and gives it a “green” rating. Since 2022, state and federal police have separately recorded hate crimes based on gender and against queer people. Also mentioned is the “Queer Living” action plan approved by the cabinet for acceptance and protection of sexual and gender diversity. This also contains measures to protect against violence, attacks and hostility.
