Another tragic case of gun violence in the USA: in Los Angeles, three women die near the residential area of Beverly Hills: the background to the crime is still unclear.

According to the media, three women were killed in a car by unknown persons in a posh district of the US metropolis Los Angeles. Four people were injured in the incident in the Benedict Canyon residential area on Saturday around 2:55 a.m. on the street, the Los Angeles Times reported, citing the police. At the time of the crime there was a meeting in a rental house, the exact nature of which is not yet known, said Bruce Borihanh from the police in the Californian metropolis at the scene of the crime.

The attack in the neighborhood north of celebrity Beverly Hills was not accidental, he added. Neighbors saw that several cars drove away a few minutes after the shots were fired. The perpetrator or perpetrators were initially able to flee. The women killed were all between their mid-20s and early 30s, it said. The house is a property that can be rented for a short period of time. “This is the 11th serious firearms incident in the United States and fourth in California this week,” Los Angeles Mayor Karen Bass wrote on Twitter. “Remembrance and prayer are not enough.” Action must be taken.

The United States has long struggled with dramatic levels of gun violence. On January 21, a man opened fire on the sidelines of a Chinese New Year celebration in Monterey Park, California, killing 11 people. Shortly thereafter, seven people were killed in gunfire at two crime scenes in Half Moon Bay in northern California. There have also been gun deaths in other US states, including Utah and Iowa, since the beginning of the year.
