Crime: Spain: Drug officer killed by smuggler’s boat

At least two Spanish Civil Guard officers were killed in the harbor of the southern city of Barbate when a speedboat carrying drug smugglers plowed into them. Spanish media reported this that night, citing a statement from the Interior Ministry in Madrid. Another officer was seriously injured and another was slightly injured. Meanwhile, the Guardia Civil interest group AUGC spoke of three deaths on the X platform, formerly Twitter. The exact circumstances of the incident were initially unclear. Barbate is located on the Atlantic coast near the Strait of Gibraltar.

The Spanish Interior Ministry expressed its horror at the death of the civil guards. That night, the AUGC called for the resignation of Interior Minister Fernando Grande-Marlaska, to whom the police unit reports, and for a “thorough investigation into these serious events.”
