A different kind of Christmas package: Packages containing cocaine were found on beaches in southeastern Australia, the police are warning the population.

Since Friday evening, a total of seven packages covered in barnacles have been found on beaches between the metropolis of Sydney and the city of Newcastle, about 100 kilometers further north, said the police in the state of New South Wales. Preliminary investigations suggested they contained cocaine.
It was said that the area had been searched extensively in the past few days. Police warned the public not to touch or open the packages.
