The unconventional investigator has been in action since 2012. Now Jörg Hartmann has hung on as Chief Inspector Peter Faber for a few more years.

Actor Jörg Hartmann will continue to investigate the Dortmund “crime scene” as Chief Inspector Peter Faber in the coming years. WDR said he had signed a corresponding contract with a term of three years until the end of 2026. “Chief Inspector Peter Faber and the ‘crime scene’ Dortmund are an unbeatable unit,” explained Alexander Bickel, head of WDR fiction. This is thanks to Hartmann’s great and versatile acting skills. “With Faber he created a character that fascinates the audience,” says Bickel.

Hartmann had previously reported on the contract extension in an interview with the “Westdeutsche Allgemeine Zeitung”. At the same time, he admitted that the role was “both a blessing and a curse.” He wanted to be perceived as an actor and artist and not just as a “crime scene” detective. “And at the same time I’m happy and also take it as praise that people have accepted me so much in this character, then you’re a ‘crime scene’ inspector, yes, my God, I can live with that,” said Hartmann.

The figure of Peter Faber is now the only one in the Dortmund investigative team who was there when it started in 2012. His co-investigator Martina Bönisch (Anna Schudt) was in the episode “Love Me!” was shot in front of Faber’s eyes – her death still haunts him.

In the last episode broadcast, investigator Jan Pawlak (Rick Okon) threw out. Characteristic of the Dortmund “Tatort” is the serial storytelling, in which a lot of emphasis is placed on the further development of the characters and their story from episode to episode. According to WDR, the next case with Faber will be broadcast in the fall.
