In the first part of Berlin’s “Tatort: Nothing but the truth” (April 9, the first), viewers finally get to see the new commissioner. Susanne Bonard alias Corinna Harfouch (68) starts her service in the Berlin team. Together with Chief Inspector Robert Karow (Mark Waschke, 51) she is on to something big. The two discover a right-wing network – within the police apparatus. Bonard is a real LKA size and works as a teacher at the police academy. You are slowly introduced to the character – but how does the new commissioner tick?
Susanne Bonard: Intelligent and truth-seeking
Susanne Bonard is a very intelligent and controlled woman. She has little fear of contact, but also sat behind the desk for a long time. The city has changed, Bonard first has to arrive and find his way around. But she hasn’t lost her edge and is obsessed with finding the truth.
Bonard was born in 1961 in what is now Chemnitz. In the GDR she was still a history and sports teacher and studied in Berlin at the Humboldt University. After the wall fell, she went to the criminal police. She was the first woman to take over the management of the Berlin Homicide Commission. Later Bonard goes back to the police academy and teaches the students. Her book “Police Work in the Legal System: Challenges and Opportunities” is a standard work. Bonard’s husband is judge Kaya Kaymaz (Ercan Karacayli, 55), and humor plays a major role in the relationship. The two have 25-year-old son Tom.
When right-wing incidents occur at the academy, Bonard calls for a public investigation. But the LKA size falls on deaf ears. When a security police officer is found dead who Bonard had previously called and asked for her help, she takes a courageous step: She returns to active duty at the age of 62, alongside Robert Karow. Because he is investigating the death of the police officer. Bonard actually only wants to investigate this one case. But as we viewers know, she will be seen in Berlin’s “crime scene” for a long time.
Corinna Harfouch was delighted with the role
Actress Corinna Harfouch is one of the most famous actresses in Germany. She made a name for herself as a theater actress, but she has also appeared in many TV and film productions. Among other things, she has already been awarded the Grimme Prize, the German Film Prize and the German Actors’ Prize.
At the beginning of 2020, rbb announced that Corinna Harfouch would succeed Meret Becker (54) in Berlin’s “crime scene”. “I immediately thought it was a great idea to become a ‘Tatort’ commissioner in Berlin,” said Harfouch about her commitment at the time. She is happy to work with Mark Waschke in the capital. In May 2019, Becker announced her departure from the Sunday evening crime thriller, and in 2022 her last case “The girl who goes home alone” ran in the first.
