Ex-teacher Daniel Huberty was convicted of abusing wards. In “Tatort: Huberty’s Rache” he wants satisfaction. Right?
The former sports teacher and family man Daniel Huberty (Stephan Kampwirth, 55) was convicted of abusing wards. He feels he has been treated extremely unfairly and demands satisfaction and rehabilitation in “Tatort: Hubertys Rache” (March 27, Das Erste). Was he perhaps even wronged?
“That’s exactly what the viewers should be discussing,” say the screenwriters of the thriller, Eva Zahn (born 1960) and Volker A. Zahn (60). You yourself have a clear position on this: “For us, however, it is clear: Daniel Huberty was rightly convicted. He had sex with an underage ward. What he portrays as love – and maybe even felt as love – was abuse.” Because: “The life of the girl, who is now a young woman, was permanently damaged by this abuse.”
Guiding principle of the corona deniers and conspiracy ideologues
Daniel Huberty interprets what is happening differently. “For him, the love was consensual, he is not to blame, and therefore he can also clearly address the responsibility that his life is in shambles,” explain the two authors, adding: “‘When right becomes wrong, will Resistance to duty’ – Daniel Huberty also acts according to this guiding principle, which corona deniers and conspiracy ideologues like to chant. But what is right in a dictatorship is pure blindness in a constitutional state.”
For the Zahn couple, the former high school teacher is one of those people “who don’t bear or accept that rules and laws don’t exactly reflect their very personal feelings, needs and views.”
“Incendiary Edition of an Uninhibited Angry Citizen”
Daniel Huberty was humiliated and offended – although he had served his sentence – in this context the two award-winning screenwriters agree with their character: “Of course he was also wronged […] But now that he’s going crazy and morally exaggerates his violent insanity, he turns out to be a highly dangerous version of an uninhibited angry citizen,” say Eva and Volker A. Zahn.
