Prison sentence for the murder and rape of a 19-year-old

The crime shocked people: a young woman died violently on the sidelines of a birthday party. The court clarified the background to the crime behind closed doors.
After the violent death of a 19-year-old, the Osnabrück regional court sentenced a man to juvenile criminal law Sentenced to nine years imprisonment. The verdict was given for the rape and murder of the 19-year-old, a court spokesman said on Tuesday.
With the verdict, the youth chamber of the regional court also found him guilty of another rape that the defendant committed as a teenager, it was said. The verdict is not yet legally binding.
The trial against the accused German, who was 20 years old at the time of the 19-year-old’s murder on March 5, has been taking place behind closed doors since the beginning of September. According to the regional court, the verdict was handed down on Monday.
The court heard the case behind closed doors, citing juvenile criminal law, because the defendant was also accused of two crimes that he had committed as a teenager. The Osnabrück Regional Court relies on the case law of the Federal Court of Justice.
The 19-year-old from the Osnabrück district was found seriously injured on March 5th on a meadow at the shooting hall in Bramsche-Pente (Osnabrück district). Despite attempts at resuscitation by rescue workers, the young woman was confirmed dead in the hospital. Like the convicted man, she had previously been a guest at a birthday party with around 150 guests in the hall. Suspicion quickly turned to the 20-year-old, who was taken into custody.
