A few hours after the crime at the Hamburger Michel, a man was arrested. An arrest warrant has now been issued against the 46-year-old – it’s about robbery and murder.

According to the findings of the Hamburg public prosecutor’s office, a body found near the Hamburg Michel was murdered. The perpetrator stabbed the 62-year-old in the neck with a knife, said a spokeswoman for the investigative authority.

The district court issued an arrest warrant against the suspect arrested on Tuesday. The 46-year-old Italian is accused of murder and robbery resulting in death. He did not provide any information about the allegations.

The accused wanted to take a larger amount of cash from the 62-year-old Portuguese on Monday, it said. The two men had previously left a restaurant near the main church at the same time. It is unclear whether the two knew each other. According to the public prosecutor’s office, the suspect acted out of greed, malice and to enable another act – the robbery.

A passer-by found the body of the 62-year-old on Monday on the edge of the Michelwiese and alerted the police. The 46-year-old was arrested the next day in a Hamburg hotel, according to the police. The investigators could have secured various pieces of evidence when searching his apartment and a hotel room.
