The violent death of a six-year-old last September shocked a small village in Mecklenburg for days. Charges have now been brought against a 14-year-old.

The charges were received on December 21st, a spokesman for the Neubrandenburg regional court confirmed on Thursday. The “Nordkurier” had previously reported.

The young person is in custody and, according to a report, is guilty. According to the Neubrandenburg public prosecutor’s office, criminal liability is also possible based on the level of maturity.

The 14-year-old is said to have mistreated and stabbed the child on September 14th last year in the bushes at the football field in Pragsdorf. The suspect was arrested at the end of September. He had become entangled in contradictions and his DNA trace was also found on the murder knife. The case caused consternation nationwide.
