A forced eviction is getting out of hand. The resident, a former soldier, doesn’t want to leave his house and threatens to set it on fire. Negotiations and hours of waiting follow.

After hours of negotiations with a man who opposed the… The 62-year-old gave up when he fought against forced eviction from his house. The police said he was persuaded by emergency services to leave the house in Unterkirnach (Schwarzwald-Baar district). He was arrested without resistance and unharmed.

The man, a former soldier and member of a shooting club, had threatened to set the house on fire, triggering a major police operation on Tuesday morning. According to the police, it could not be ruled out that he had stored weapons and explosives in his house. According to the information, the 62-year-old had several long and handguns registered. He also had an explosives permit.

Special police forces, fire brigade, rescue workers and an armored vehicle had been on site since the morning. Drones were also used. The residents of directly adjacent houses were brought to safety at the beginning of the operation.

The man lived alone in the house that was being evicted. As a soldier, he was not part of a special unit, the police said. There is also no evidence that the 62-year-old belongs to the scene of so-called Reich citizens. “Reich citizens” are people who do not recognize the Federal Republic and its democratic structures.

Unterkirnach is located in the southern Black Forest, around eight kilometers from the nearest larger town, Villingen-Schwenningen. According to the community, around 2,600 people live there.
