Ralf Kramp gets the Honorary Glauser 2023

The prize is named after the Swiss author Friedrich Glauser (1896-1938), who is regarded as an important representative of the German-language crime novel.
The Eifel crime writer and publisher Ralf Kramp is awarded the Honorary Glauser 2023 by the Association for German-language crime literature Syndikat. The syndicate and KBV Verlag in Hillesheim (Rhineland-Palatinate) announced that Kramp’s “outstanding commitment to the German-speaking crime scene” was honored with the award. The award is to be presented to Kramp on May 10th at the crime festival Criminale in Darmstadt.
Kramp has been running the crime house in Hillesheim together with his wife Monika Kramp since 2007, which, in addition to Café Sherlock, also houses the German Crime Fiction Archive with more than 30,000 books. Born in North Rhine-Westphalia, he is also part of the planning team at the crime festival “Tatort Eifel” in the Eifel. As an author, he is best known for humorous short crime novels, but he also writes a series about an oddball investigator named Herbie Feldmann.
More than 800 crime writers from Germany, Austria and Switzerland are active in the Syndikat association. The members covered a spectrum from regional thrillers to international thrillers, the association said. The syndicate usually organizes the crime festival Criminale once a year.
The “Glauser” crime novel prizes are also awarded there, which, according to the authors’ association, are endowed with a total of around 12,000 euros. The Swiss Friedrich Glauser (1896-1938) is considered a co-founder of the German crime novel.
