He was a cricket legend in Australia: Shane Warne has died at the age of 52. Liz Hurley’s ex-fiancé found dead in Thailand

He is a legend in Australia: he was the first cricketer in the history of the sport to score more than 700 international test wickets. Also voted one of the greatest players of the 20th century, Shane Warne has died aged just 52.

The athlete’s management confirmed his death to British newspaper The Sun. Accordingly, he was found lifeless on the Thai holiday island of Koh Samui. “Shane was found unconscious at his villa and despite all attempts by paramedics, he was unable to be resuscitated,” the statement said. Further details on the circumstances of death are not yet known. A heart attack is suspected.

“I am terribly sad and shocked to hear that Shane Warne has passed away. I can’t believe it. Rest in peace Shane,” former England soccer star Gary Lineker tweeted. Other athletes also took part in the sudden death of the legend.

Warne was born in Melbourne to a mother of German descent and an Australian father. They discovered his talent early on and encouraged it. Cricket is a national sport in Australia and England. Warne played a total of 145 Test matches and 198 ODIs for Australia, winning two World Cups before retiring from the Melbourne Stars in 2013.

Relationship with Liz Hurley made headlines

But Warne not only made headlines with his sporting achievements, but also with his private life. The separation from his wife filled the gossip columns in 2010. Because the alleged reason for the end of the relationship should have been none other than Liz Hurley. The two announced their engagement shortly thereafter and were considered a celebrated glamor couple on the red carpet. But nothing came of the wedding. Hurley and Warne also split in 2013.
