Crash with Musk – Twitter dispute adjourned – Economy

A week-long delay is emerging in the dispute between Twitter and billionaire Elon Musk. The judge in charge stayed the trial until October 28. If the Tesla boss hasn’t completed the $44 billion takeover of the social network by then, the parties will have to prepare for a trial in November. Now the start of the trial scheduled for October 17 is off the table. Musk had argued that Twitter misrepresented the number of fake and automated bot accounts. That’s why he tried for months to get out of the deal before surprisingly confirming his original offer on Tuesday. Apparently it was a spectacular turning point in the takeover dispute. However, it is now clear that the distrust on the part of Twitter runs deep. Instead of a rapprochement, there have recently been new attacks, so that there are still uncertainties about the conclusion of the transaction. Musk’s attorneys moved Thursday to have the trial dismissed. Twitter immediately submitted a counter-motion. The judge then set the parties to the dispute a deadline for clarification. According to Twitter, Musk has so far kept a back door open to exiting the deal by making the acquisition dependent on financing. The company intends to further secure the deal before the litigation is fully resolved. Musk responded: “Twitter doesn’t take yes for an answer.”
