The settling of accounts ends in prison. On Tuesday, a vast judicial police operation was carried out in Normandy and Île de France to arrest seven individuals suspected of being involved in a case of kidnapping and aggravated violence and in participation in a criminal association with a view to preparing of crimes.
The story begins on December 14, 2020. Shortly before six in the morning, a man residing in Le Havre was abducted from his home by hooded individuals posing as police officers, says the Lille prosecutor, in charge of the case. His partner suffered, in passing, violence from the group of attackers.
Ten days of incapacity for work
It was not until two days later that the victim was released, after having been particularly badly treated too, resulting in ten days of incapacity for work.
“It appeared that the abduction and sequestration of this person were likely to be linked to his indictment in a procedure for importing narcotics committed by an organized gang under investigation before a judge of the Jurisdiction specialized interregional (Jirs) of Lille, ”explains the press release from the public prosecutor.
The police operation, which was carried out on Tuesday, therefore led to the arrest of seven people, four of whom were placed in pre-trial detention. “Searches have made it possible to gather evidence and to operate asset seizures”, continues the prosecution. Namely, 10,000 euros in cash and a Patek brand watch worth 80,000 euros
For the prosecutor, “this two-year investigation is part of the fight against the networks importing cocaine into France”. “Le Havre is still the main gateway to the national territory”, she assures, specifying that “seven tonnes of cocaine were seized in this port enclosure during the year 2022”.
