It started with a lightning start in Bavaria’s neighboring country. The first lockdown was still on researchers from the four university hospitals in Baden-Württemberg drew blood from 5,000 mothers, fathers and children, looking for traces of the novel coronavirus. The result justified the subsequent opening course. Because it turned out that school children – contrary to what was feared – were apparently no drivers of the pandemic. They were less likely to be infected with the virus than their parents, were less likely to contract Covid-19, and most of the time they developed weaker symptoms.
