A good friend who likes to climb like us is married to a woman who doesn’t do anything with mountaineering at all. When we suggest going to the rock together for a day at the weekend, the answer has always been: “I’ll have to ask the boss first.” And then the rejection usually follows. But our impression is that his wife wouldn’t mind being rid of him for a day. Should we address that or abandon him as a climbing partner?
