Côtes-d’Armor, Finistère and Morbihan placed on orange alert for “strong winds” from Wednesday evening

Storm Ciaran is approaching. Côtes-d’Armor, Finistère and Morbihan will go into orange “strong wind” alert from Wednesday around 8 p.m., Météo-France announced on Tuesday October 31. This “very strong autumn storm” will hit Brittany with winds quickly exceeding 100 km/h, reaching “up to 130 to 150 km/h” initially on the Atlantic coast. “We expect up to 150 to 170 km/h potentially on the coast of Finistère and Côtes-d’Armor during the night from Wednesday to Thursday”warns Météo-France, while recognizing “uncertainties about the intensity of the gusts”.

In addition to strong winds, “heavy rain” And “strong waves” will affect the northwest of the country from Wednesday evening. At the end of the night and in the morning of Thursday, “these gusts will spread to other departments in the north-west of the country, which will therefore go into orange vigilance”the public body has already announced.

Unrelated to storm Ciaran, another orange alert for “strong winds” is in effect until Tuesday, 4 p.m., in Haute-Corse. The wind “is expected to be around 120 km/h in Balagne, 150 to 180 km/h on Cap Corse and 100 to 120 km/h in the Bastia region” until early afternoon, according to Météo-France.
