Over the next few weeks, millions of television viewers will be in the riddle fever again: Who is singing under the giant mask on the show?

This has never happened before on “Masked Singer”: even before the start of the new season (Saturday, 8:15 p.m., ProSieben and Joyn), the first celebrity voluntarily revealed his identity.

The “circus director” – a kind of panda with a top hat – took off his hat in the ProSieben program on Wednesday evening – and it was…Matthias Opdenhövel, the presenter of the live show. Tricked. So it remains a secret which celebrities belt out hits week after week in masks until they either get too few votes or win in the end. And only then show yourself.

Opdenhövel also announced a small innovation: Unlike in previous years, all costumes will only be presented in the first live show.

There is also a change in the advice team: Ruth Moschner, who always amazes the audience with her magical ear for celebrity voices, is getting a new permanent partner. Singer Alvaro Soler sits down next to the presenter and wants to get to the bottom of the stars behind the masks.

The broadcaster quotes Soler: “I think it’s really crazy how secret everything is here. You really don’t know anything! It’s like the Secret Service, simply absurd.” He had already been a guest on the advice team two years ago. “And I still remember how amazed I was by the fascinating masks and the artistic outfits.”

According to the statement, colleague Moschner warmly welcomes her new partner: “I think that the female fans in particular will be very happy about his presence and his charm. In addition, Alvaro has proven with his previous guest appearance on the panel that he is very good at guessing , because back then he provided valuable input. That greatly enriched our team.” Extreme reportage master Jenke von Wilmsdorff will also be a guest in the opening show.

What is very unusual about the ninth season is that it changes the day of the week on one of the evenings in order not to compete with “Wetten, dass…?” to stand. The second edition will not run on November 25th, but on November 26th at 8:15 p.m., i.e. on Sunday evening instead of Saturday evening. On November 25th, Thomas Gottschalk moderated “Wetten,dass..?” for the last time. “For our stars under the masks, saying goodbye to Thomas Gottschalk is a big moment that they don’t want to spend against him, but with him,” said moderator Opdenhövel. “Of course, ProSieben couldn’t resist this wish.”
