“Cost prices” operation from Friday for Leclerc

After the government abandoned selling at a loss, the “cost price” operation began, a few hours before a meeting in Matignon (5:30 p.m.) with fuel distributors to convince them to “take their share”.

In anticipation, Leclerc announced this Tuesday that gasoline at “cost price” will be offered in 750 service stations from this Friday. The purpose of the meeting between the Prime Minister, distributors, refiners and professional federations is to “ensure the moderation of margins”.

“An act of solidarity towards all customers”

“It is a positive response to the President’s call urging each player in the sector to offer discounts or lower prices” to propose this operation, judged on X (ex-Twitter) the president of the strategic committee of the distribution group E.Leclerc Michel-Edouard Leclercalso evoking “an act of solidarity with all customers frightened by the increases and whose purchasing power is very impacted”.

Michel-Edouard Leclerc specifies that “this Leclerc initiative, built to last, should be reassessed or adapted to take into account supply conditions and the expected involvement of oil companies”. Earlier in the morning, Système U boss Dominique Schelcher confirmed on BFMTV-RMC that he would proceed by “operations”: “This cannot be a permanent cost price”, he clarified regarding his brand, referring to “low margins, 2 cents on average per liter”.
