Intensive care physicians warn against weighing in “false security”
The intensive care physicians in Germany warn against lulling oneself into a “false sense of security” in view of the currently still relatively low number of corona patients in hospitals. At the moment, only three percent of the beds are occupied by Covid patients, the president of the Intensive Care Medicine Association Divi, Gernot Marx, told the Funke newspapers. But there was also a slight increase in corona cases in the intensive care units. The rate will probably increase in the coming weeks as the number of infections continues to rise, Marx predicted. He is particularly concerned about the comparatively early increase in inpatient corona treatments.

RKI reports 5578 new infections – incidence at 30.1
The seven-day incidence continues to rise. According to the Robert Koch Institute in the morning, it was 30.1 – the previous day the value was 27.6, a week ago it was 20.4. The health authorities in Germany last reported 5578 new infections to the RKI within one day. A week ago, the value for Germany was 3448 infections. According to the new information, 19 deaths were recorded across Germany within 24 hours. A week ago there were 24 deaths. The RKI has counted 3,810,641 detected infections with Sars-CoV-2 since the beginning of the pandemic.

Paralympic Games in Tokyo with no spectators
The Paralympic Games from August 24th in Tokyo will mostly take place without spectators. The organizers agree on a spectator limit similar to that of the Olympic Games, as the capital is still in lockdown due to the increasing corona infections.
