RKI reports 252,836 new infections – incidence rises to 1439.0
The Robert Koch Institute reported 252,836 new infections within 24 hours. That’s 35,243 more cases than on Friday a week ago, when 217,593 positive tests were reported. Overall, the number of confirmed infections in Germany is more than 16.7 million. The nationwide seven-day incidence rises to 1439.0 from 1388.5 the previous day. 249 other people died in connection with the virus. This increases the number of reported deaths to 125,272.

The pandemic may have cost significantly more lives worldwide than previously thought. Wüst criticizes draft for future Corona legal basis
North Rhine-Westphalia’s Prime Minister Hendrik Wüst (CDU) has sharply criticized the draft proposed by the federal government to amend the Infection Protection Act in the corona pandemic. “Basic protection measures agreed across the board and tried-and-tested instruments for combating pandemics will be abolished. Instead, the draft outlines a patchwork of rules that people will hardly understand,” Wüst told the “Welt”.
