University Rectors’ Conference: Large lectures will continue to be digital in the future

Large lectures at universities could also be permanently broadcast via video after the corona pandemic. Such events were among the offers that could be considered for a permanent digital offer, said the President of the University Rectors’ Conference, Peter-André Alt, of the German Press Agency.

At many universities in Germany, the lecture period begins this Monday and next. After three Corona online semesters, the students can experience the majority of the courses again directly at the university or the university of applied sciences. To do this, they have to prove that they have either been vaccinated, recovered or tested (3G). Large lectures would continue to take place digitally to a large extent, said Alt.

Marburger Bund warns of new infections after the free tests have ended

The medical association Marburger Bund fears an increase in the number of infections at the end of the free corona tests. “Chargeable corona tests mean that fewer people with symptoms will be tested in the future,” says the chairwoman, Susanne Johna, the newspapers of the editorial network Germany. “This is a gateway for further transmission of the virus.”

As of Monday, the citizen tests will no longer be free. Politicians want to increase the pressure on unvaccinated people to get vaccinated. Exceptions apply to all groups who cannot be vaccinated for medical reasons and who can prove this, or for whom a vaccine is not yet available. Health Minister Jens Spahn defended the measure against the Funke media group as “fairness to the taxpayer”.
