Scientists have compared the procedure against the coronavirus in three countries: Germany, Sweden and Great Britain. In this country, measures are discussed particularly openly and widely. Why is that not all good.

One of the surprises of this pandemic was the extent to which forecasts about the resilience of individual countries were wrong. Country rankings for pandemic preparedness turned out to be unexpectedly inaccurate, for example the USA mastered the crisis much worse than expected. What is more, it seems increasingly unclear which criteria are even suitable for assessing capacities for coping with health crises. An international team of scientists has now concentrated on previously neglected factors influencing pandemic control: political structures, the position of science and public communication.
