Corona study misquoted: No evidence of cancer from vaccines

Misleading claim: Spike proteins produced by corona vaccines are believed to cause cancer. This is allegedly based on a study. The authors do not make this claim at all.

Vector, mRNA and DNA vaccines work on a similar principle: They induce cells to produce spike proteins, as can also be found on the surface of the Sars-CoV-2 viruses. The immune system attacks these foreign proteins and “learns” how to act against the virus.

According to a study, the production of the proteins could show another effect: “SARS-CoV-2 Spike Impairs DNA Damage Repair and Inhibits V (D) J Recombination In Vitro” (SARS-CoV-2 Spike prevents DNA damage repair and inhibits V (D) J-recombination in vitro) is the title of a paper in which researchers formulate possible concerns.

Experiment only under laboratory conditions

The authors’ findings are based on in-vitro experiments, i.e. experiments with isolated cells outside the body. In doing so, they expose kidney cells to various proteins that are found in Sars-CoV-2 viruses – including the spike protein. When vaccinated, however, the vaccine is injected into muscle cells.

They discovered that some of the spike proteins made their way into the cell nucleus and hindered repair mechanisms in the cell’s genetic material there. As a result, the V (D) J recombination mechanism, which plays an important role in the detection of pathogens, is also disrupted. The authors therefore recommend not having the complete spike protein generated, but only modified versions of it. However, these are already in many vaccines used.

No statements about cancer

In their study, the authors do not claim at all that the phenomena they discovered could trigger cancer, as it is spread on social media. Theoretically, it would be possible for cancer to be triggered by inhibition of the DNA repair mechanisms – but this would have to be the case be permanently damagedwhich is not the case due to a short-term influence by spike proteins.

Critics of the study also criticize the fact that an artificial laboratory situation was created in which cells were exposed to extremely high amounts of the protein. This would not happen in reality. The large dose used in the experiment could be inherently toxic to the cell. The spike proteins have also been modified in such a way that they could possibly get into the cell nucleus, which is not the case with the proteins generated by the vaccines, explains the head of the Biochemistry and Bioorganic Chemistry Research Group at Leipzig University, Annette Beck- Sickinger, across from the AFP.

University distances itself

In the meantime, Stockholm University has also commented on the study: “The publication does not prove that spike proteins generated by vaccinations take over the human DNA repair mechanism and other reactions of the adaptive immune system, a spokesman told the AFP news agency.” We have explored the research in this article and found errors in the quality of the work and the interpretation of the data. The authors have therefore contacted the journal and asked for the article to be withdrawn. “

The reports of allegedly devastating side effects of the vaccines also concern users of tagesschau.dewho wrote letters to the editors and asked for clarification. But the claim that a study showed that corona vaccines could cause cancer is wrong. This was not even claimed by the researchers – moreover, they have meanwhile withdrawn their publication due to obvious deficiencies.
