The Robert Koch Institute (RKI) reports a record increase in new infections with 75,961 positive tests within 24 hours. The total number of corona deaths in Germany rises to over 100,000. The employers’ association is open to a general vaccination requirement. More in the live ticker.

This reflects the status of the RKI dashboard at 3:47 a.m. The number of new corona infections transmitted within one day exceeded the threshold of 70,000 new infections for the first time.

According to the RKI, the health authorities reported 75,961 cases in 24 hours. Exactly one week ago there were 65,371 new infections recorded. The seven-day incidence was 419.7 – also a high since the beginning of the pandemic. For comparison: the previous day the value was 404.5, a week ago it was 336.9 (previous month: 110.1).

According to the new information, 351 deaths were recorded across Germany within 24 hours. A week ago there were 264 deaths. The RKI has counted 5,573,756 detected infections with Sars-CoV-2 since the beginning of the pandemic. The actual total number is likely to be significantly higher, as many infections are not recognized.
