Corona pandemic – Thailand relaxes entry rules – travel

Thailand is further relaxing entry rules for twice-vaccinated tourists. From May 1st, visitors with proof of vaccination would not have to do a corona test before departure or after arrival, the authorities in the Southeast Asian holiday country said. Once the visa formalities at the airport have been completed, guests can move freely throughout the country from Sunday onwards. All that is required is registration on the Internet for the so-called Thailand passport and health insurance for 10,000 US dollars (9,400 euros). Different rules apply to the unvaccinated.

It is generally recommended to obtain information about the necessary formalities from the authorities. Tour operators and hoteliers had long been calling for the entry conditions to be made much easier in order to attract more tourists and not leave the field to neighboring countries. In many countries in the region, such as Cambodia and Vietnam, the rules have recently been much less complicated. One of the reasons for the easing is that the number of tourists who have tested positive for the corona virus after arrival is extremely low, the CCSA said.
