The number of nationwide new infections and the seven-day incidence continue to rise continuously. The Robert Koch Institute reports an incidence of 17.5. The day before it was still 16.9.
The Robert Koch Institute registered new corona-positive tests on Sunday 2097. That is 710 more than on Sunday a week ago, when 1387 new infections were reported. The seven-day incidence increases from 16.9 the previous day to 17.5. A week ago the value was 13.8.
The incidence indicates how many people per 100,000 population have contracted the coronavirus in the past seven days. The value has so far been the basis for many corona restrictions during the pandemic, for example as part of the federal emergency brake that expired at the end of June. In the future, other values such as hospital admissions are to be taken into account to a greater extent.
Young people in particular are infected
At the beginning of the month, the seven-day average was around 600 cases reported daily. The value has now passed the 2000 mark. According to the RKI, the infection process takes place mainly in the age groups under 35 years of age. This is also evident in the age of the patients admitted to the hospital, as the RKI writes in its current weekly report.
The median age of the Covid patients admitted to the hospital has fallen significantly in recent months. “If the median hospitalized cases were 77 years old at the beginning of the year, the median in calendar week 29 was 47 years.”
3.77 million corona cases in total
According to the new information, a death was recorded across Germany within 24 hours. The RKI has counted 3,771,262 detected infections with Sars-CoV-2 since the beginning of the pandemic. The actual total number is likely to be significantly higher, as many infections are not detected.
The RKI stated the number of those who had recovered at 3,654,500. The number of people who died with or with a proven infection with Sars-CoV-2 rose to 91,659.
52 percent fully vaccinated
Around 43.2 million people in Germany, 52 percent of the total population, are now fully vaccinated. A total of 51.24 million people received at least one dose of vaccine, which is 61.6 percent of the population.
