The federal and state health ministers are discussing the hotspot rule for stricter measures today. Federal Minister of Health Karl Lauterbach wants how the countries can determine the hotspots.

Federal Health Minister Karl Lauterbach wants to propose four criteria to the federal states for determining corona hotspots.

“On Monday I will inform the health ministers of the countries what I think are the criteria that the countries can use to determine the hotspots,” said the SPD politician on Sunday on the Bild TV channel, looking at the switch planned for the afternoon the Conference of Health Ministers (GMK).

This includes when planned interventions can no longer be carried out in hospitals due to Corona, emergency care is at risk, care falls below lower limits or patients have to be transferred to other hospitals. With these criteria, the countries should be able to implement the hotspot regulations. “And I appeal to the states to do it now,” Lauterbach said.

Lauterbach rejected the demand by the Bavarian Health Minister Klaus Holetschek (CSU) for a nationwide extension of the mask requirement. “Whether he proposes it or not is completely irrelevant. It’s not legal, »said the SPD politician, but emphasized that he himself would have liked to have kept the mask requirement if it had been legally possible. However, he appealed to the federal states to do this in the hotspots and again called on the large supermarket chains to enforce the mask requirement in their branches nationwide by domiciliary rights. He expects companies to respond to his appeal on Monday.
