Japan’s auto production restarted
Japan’s auto industry has significantly boosted production after production losses as a result of supply bottlenecks and the corona pandemic. After a January production drop of 17.3 percent in January, output increased by 10.9 percent in February, according to the Ministry of Economy, Industry and Trade based on preliminary data. Overall, however, industrial production in the world’s third-largest economy, ahead of Germany, rose only slightly by 0.1 percent. In the previous month, however, it had fallen by 0.8 percent. The ministry reiterated its assessment that the country’s manufacturing industry is showing signs of recovery.

The Robert Koch Institute (RKI) reports 274,901 new infections within 24 hours. That’s 43,486 fewer cases than Thursday a week ago, when 318,387 positive tests were reported. Overall, the number of confirmed infections in Germany is more than 21.1 million. The nationwide seven-day incidence falls slightly to 1625.1 from 1663.0 the previous day. 279 other people died in connection with the virus. This increases the number of reported deaths to 129,391.
