A third of the population in Germany does not yet have any vaccination protection – not to mention the rest of the world – so the first people to be vaccinated should go into the third round. The Federal Ministry of Health plans to have booster vaccinations for members of the risk groups, i.e. older people and people with previous illnesses, from September onwards. These groups not only have a higher risk of becoming seriously ill from Sars-CoV-2, their immune system often does not react with a sufficiently strong protective response to a vaccination. Studies show that the defense can be significantly strengthened by a third injection.
