Corona in the district of Ebersberg: First suspected Omikron case – Ebersberg

The highly contagious Corona variant Omikron has probably arrived in the district: the first suspected case was reported to the health department on Wednesday. In the test of a district citizen, a genetic change was found, which points to variant B1.1.529. The genome sequencing, which is necessary for a final test result, is still pending and will probably be a while in coming. The laborious laboratory test at the State Office for Health and Food Safety can take four weeks or more, according to the District Office. The index case is in isolation with mild symptoms. A contact is in quarantine. According to the authority, the infection probably took place within Germany, but outside the district.

There is also other bad news about Corona: Four more deaths in connection with an infection have been reported to the health department. The deceased were born in the 1930s and 1940s. Two of them died at the end of October and two at the beginning of December. The number of deaths since the beginning of the pandemic has risen to 212. 30 patients with Covid-19 disease are currently being treated at the Ebersberg district clinic. 27 come from the district. Nine corona patients are cared for in the intensive care unit, eight have to be ventilated. Ten of the patients are not vaccinated, 20 are. The value for the seven-day incidence in the Ebersberg district on Thursday was 292.9.

The vaccinations for children started successfully on Wednesday. Almost 130 children between the ages of five and eleven received the first dose of the vaccine at the vaccination center in Ebersberg and the branch in Poing. On Saturday, December 18, vaccinations will be offered in two district communities without prior appointment: in Pliening from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. in the fire station and in Egmating in the community center from 9.30 a.m. to 2 p.m. for everyone and from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. especially for families with children between five and eleven years.
