Corona in Munich: New vaccination dates in the vaccination center activated – Munich

From now on there are new corona vaccination appointments in the city. The reason is extended opening times. From this week on, the vaccination center in Riem will be vaccinated again every day, including Thursdays and Fridays, and the opening times of the vaccination center at Marienplatz in the former Sport Münzinger will be extended by two hours from Thursday to 7.45 p.m.

With the expansion of the opening times, the capacity of the vaccination center in Riem, including all branch offices and mobile vaccination campaigns, will increase to up to 30,000 vaccinations per week, according to a statement from the health department. Via the vaccination portal Bayimco at www.impfzentren.bayern appointments would gradually be activated. In the Riem vaccination center, vaccinations without an appointment are still possible, an appointment is only recommended. However, there may then be waiting times.

Corona vaccinations are still very popular. In the past week, the city of Munich vaccinated a total of more than 23,800 people. That was almost 6000 more vaccinations than three weeks ago. This includes first, second and third vaccinations. Almost half of the vaccinations took place in Riem, at the vaccination centers in Pasing, on Theresienwiese, at Marienplatz and in the district administration department there were more than 8,800 vaccinations, and in the case of the mobile vaccination campaigns around 3,400.

The Green / Pink List parliamentary group is now calling on the city to organize vaccination campaigns in Munich’s schools before the Christmas holidays. Children from the age of five are to be included, as the vaccine specially portioned for children by Biontech / Pfizer is to be delivered from December 13th. According to the parliamentary group’s motion, Lord Mayor Dieter Reiter (SPD) should contact the Free State as soon as possible.

Especially among the five to eleven year olds, the incidences are higher than in most other age groups, and many parents urgently want their children to be vaccinated, says Hannah Gerstenkorn, health expert for the group and a doctor herself. The city should therefore “act quickly”: “We propose to do this in schools, where many people can be reached centrally. In this way, some of the children in the middle of the fourth wave could at least build up some protection against the virus.”
