Reaching Bernhard Edenharter is not an easy task these days. Meetings of the district presidents, compulsory vaccination discussions, staff interviews: the head of the Regensburg health department is in permanent possession. On Tuesday he still answers the phone and quickly speaks plain language. Contact tracking, with up to 500 new infections a day, with the contact persons totaling around 2,000 people who would have to be reached quickly – “that’s simply not possible,” he says.
