Government lets Santa Claus advertise boosters and gives vaccination skeptics one
After a slow start, the booster vaccinations started last. The Federal Ministry of Health is now advertising the third corona vaccination on the Internet with an unusual guest.
The Federal Ministry of Health is promoting the booster vaccination on the Internet with a special commercial. In a short video clip that was released on Sunday lunchtime, a person can be seen who can be easily identified as Santa Claus – even if this is nowhere mentioned. “You know, I don’t believe in science that much, because science doesn’t believe in me either,” the man starts his monologue – a small nod with the fence post to those who oppose the vaccine, who repeatedly oppose the scientific studies of vaccines and complain about too little research in the field.
But he realized that he got around a lot and had a lot of social contacts, especially during the Christmas season. “I’d rather be on the safe side and get my booster vaccination,” advertises the man, dressed in red trousers, his red Santa Claus jacket hanging in the background. Behind him is a medicine table with gloves, swabs and disinfectant. But the crucial message is yet to come. “That works, even if you don’t believe in it,” is the final sentence, a clear swipe at vaccination skeptics.
On the Internet, the contribution was largely positively received. “A great contribution, dear BMG,” writes a user under the video, which was posted on various platforms. However, some users also criticize the fact that “Santa Claus is now being used for propaganda”.
Corona: booster vaccinations are picking up speed
After a slow process, the number of booster vaccinations has recently increased significantly. In mid-November, Stiko issued a booster recommendation for all people over the age of 18. Nationwide, 15.7 percent of the population have now received their booster vaccinations, according to the vaccination dashboard of the Federal Ministry of Health. Nationwide, Berlin leads in this sattistics with 18.3 percent, as with the general vaccination quota, Saxony comes in last with 12.6 percent. As of December 4, 71.9 percent of Germans had already received an initial vaccination.
