Corona emergency aid was given quickly and unbureaucratically at the beginning of the pandemic. But now many companies are supposed to reimburse the money. And that should only be the beginning.

Germany has so far been generous in this crisis. A total of 74.6 billion euros have so far been paid out to corona aid for the economy. But what is now causing difficulties for many small businesses is a small part of it: the emergency aid from the first phase of the pandemic, which was paid out relatively unbureaucratically in spring 2020. Many companies and the self-employed have received unexpected requests for repayment in the past few weeks and months. Corona aid from spring 2020 should therefore be repaid in part or in full. And many a recipient no longer understands the world.
