Corona: Bavarian hotspots react calmly – Bavaria

Rosenheim has taken precautions: In January 2022 there will be no New Year’s reception, it said a week ago in a message from the 64,000-inhabitant city in the Bavarian foothills of the Alps. An event “with over 1000 guests” is not justifiable in view of the “incidence rates that have increased again in recent weeks and the high level of exposure, especially in the intensive care units of our RoMed clinic”, believes Mayor Andreas März (CSU). The city in the Bavarian foothills of the Alps has also canceled several carnival balls. Current seven-day incidence: 353.8.

No measures are planned elsewhere, despite an even higher number of cases. Siegfried Walch, CSU district administrator responsible for the Traunstein district, spoke to the public on Friday and praised the “overall good development”, which allows “to go through this time without lockdown”. At the time, the incidence value was 418, and over the weekend it climbed to 480. A spokeswoman for the district office stated that no restrictions were planned. In public life everything is possible “that is made possible under the 14th Bavarian Infection Protection Ordinance”.

This ordinance has been in effect since the beginning of September and provides for what has long since become commonplace in everyday life: mask requirement in closed rooms, 3-G rules in cinemas, theaters, museums and swimming pools with an incidence of more than 35. In addition, the so-called Corona applies -Traffic light. As soon as more than 1200 Covid-19 patients have been admitted to a clinic across Bavaria, the measures can be tightened. There are then: contact restrictions, the obligation to wear FFP2 masks or a limit on the number of participants at public and private events.

Some counties do not want stricter rules – even if the ministry recommends them

But even Bavaria, which currently comprises nine of the ten districts with the highest number of corona cases nationwide, is still a long way from this. So far, only 405 patients have been hospitalized due to corona. And even in the intensive care units, the situation with 339 Covid 19 sufferers is still manageable. Stricter measures only become due when this number rises to 600.

So nothing to worry about? The Traunstein District Administrator Walch noted that state restrictions were not necessary “because we have a high immunization rate”. However, this does not apply to his own district, which only has 57 percent first vaccinations. Therefore, he called on the residents in his region to get vaccinated. A spokesman for the Bavarian Ministry of Health advises circles with “regionally high outbreaks” to take further protective measures, regardless of the nationwide hospital traffic lights.

In the Upper Bavarian town of Mühldorf am Inn, as in previous waves of the epidemic, the health department was increased. The test center at the Volksfestplatz has now also opened on Saturdays, and it has been recommended to the schools in the district that “pupils wear mouth and nose protection on a voluntary basis,” explains the district office. Further measures would be examined in Mühldorf, which is at the forefront with an incidence of 523 in the nationwide Corona comparison.
