Corona – 30 million vaccinations made: Germany’s biggest Christmas present! – Domestic policy

Germany is giving itself a huge Christmas present!

In the middle of Christmas, doctors, medical assistants and everyone who campaigns against the coronavirus to vaccinate have completed the 30 million vaccinations (just under).

Even on Christmas Day, 35,000 people were given the protective spades. On Christmas Eve there were 68,000 in vaccination centers but also in special campaigns in churches and at Christmas markets.

Do it together: 30.004 million vaccinations!

With this, Federal Chancellor Olaf Scholz (63, SPD) has kept his promise, which he took over from ex-Chancellor Merkel and topped up: “Our greatest challenge is and will be how we can get as many citizens as possible to vaccinate now and get a booster vaccination, ”said Scholz on December 2nd after the federal-state summit and promised 30 million vaccinations by Christmas.

Because it could possibly be tight, Scholz had moved the target date to the end of the year. Not necessary at all: In the end it was a precision landing.

24.2 million pikes of this were refreshments. After all, 2.8 million people have had their first vaccination since the cut-off date (November 18).

By the end of January, Scholz had already promised the next 30 million vaccinations!

Federal government postpones 80 percent target

Yet: The federal government is still a long way from achieving its own goals. Therefore, the goal of vaccinating 80 percent of the population at least once against the coronavirus had to be postponed to the end of January.

As recently as Wednesday, government spokesman Steffen Hebestreit confirmed the federal government’s goal of achieving a vaccination rate of 80 percent by the next Prime Minister’s conference on January 7th.

However, since only 74 percent of the population have been “first immunized” so far, the missing 5.3 million first vaccinations seem barely achievable in the next two weeks.
