Corinna Harfouch: “Am I really that strict and cold as a type?”

Our author sometimes cried when he saw “Die”. Corinna Harfouch is nominated for the German Film Prize for her role in the film. Here she talks about strict mothers, the magic of her job and one aspect of it that’s annoying.

Woman Harfouch, “Dying” shows a family that, in the face of the approaching death of their parents, discovers something terrible about themselves: that there is emotional coldness and a total lack of relationship between the father, mother and the two adult children. Is this the saddest film you’ve ever made?
I don’t think he’s that sad at all. A film has to touch people, especially when it’s about existential issues. But there was also laughter at the premiere at the Berlinale.

Laugh? With this film?
Yes, it was a laugh of recognition, a laugh of recognition. I felt like people were able to connect with the film, recognizing something they know about themselves. That’s liberating.
