Conviction for mashed potatoes fight in prison – Bavaria

Two women from prison in Aichach, Swabia, have been sentenced again for a mashed potato fight and subsequent physical altercation. The cellmates had gotten into a fight in the women’s prison and then threw food at each other – mashed potatoes that day last July. According to the indictment, one woman threw the whole plate in the other’s face at some point, after which the other also used her plate as a projectile. The argument then escalated violently, and both women suffered injuries. The Augsburg district court sentenced the 31 and 35-year-old defendants to fines on Wednesday for intentional bodily harm. As a court spokesman reported, one of the accused received a fine of 2,700 euros (180 daily rates of 15 euros) and the other 1,800 euros (120 daily rates of 15 euros).
