Convict in the police murder trial files an appeal – SWR Aktuell

In response to the verdict in the Kusel police murder case, the main defendant’s defense has appealed.

The revision as an appeal against the court decision was received on Wednesday evening, said a spokeswoman for the district court of Kaiserslautern.

The 39-year-old Andreas S. was sentenced to life imprisonment for two murders on Wednesday. The district court also determined the particular gravity of the guilt. A release of the German after 15 years in prison is therefore ruled out.

The court ruled that the man shot a 24-year-old police officer and a 29-year-old police commissioner in the head at the end of January. With the murders he wanted to cover up commercial poaching, said the reasoning.

The bloody deed during a vehicle check on a district road near Ulmet in the Kusel district in the western Palatinate had caused horror throughout Germany.
