After half a year without a club, Hatem Ben Arfa signed on with the French champions OSC Lille. He is now under contract there until the end of the season.

Reigning French champions OSC Lille have signed midfielder Hatem Ben Arfa on a six-month deal until the end of the season. This was announced by the Ligue 1 club on Wednesday.

The 34-year-old, who has won 15 caps for France, has been without a club since leaving Girondins Bordeaux in the summer and is now expected to join coach Jocelyn Gourvennec’s side as they meet holders Chelsea in the Champions League round of 16.

Ben Arfa was once considered an outstanding talent, but he always caused off the field for headlines. His time at Paris Saint-Germain is well remembered, where he once literally celebrated a year without appearances and therefore unsuccessfully sued the club for damages for bullying.

Ben Arfa: “I feel very good”

“I’m feeling really good and I can’t wait to get back into competition,” said Ben Arfa, who will wear the number 11 shirt at Lille.

At the same time, offensive player Yusuf Yazici was loaned to CSKA Moscow in Russia. The Russian capital club has also secured a purchase option for the Turkish international.
