Construction work begins on Am Knie and Pasing subway stations. – Munich

The extension of subway line 5 to Pasing is entering a new phase. The shell construction work for the new Am Knie and Pasing subway stations began on Monday. Now more trees have to give way.

25 large trees can be transplanted into the green areas at Lake Langwieder. However, according to the building department, this does not work with around 170 trees on the side of the road – they have to be felled.

Temporary changes to traffic routing are planned for the work. In the course of this year, the tram tracks on Am Knie Street will also be relocated away from the construction site of the future train station.

The extension of the U 5 stretches over around 3.8 kilometers. Construction work in the first construction phase along Gotthardstrasse has been underway since January 2022. 384 large trees had to be removed for this first construction phase. All three new subway stations, Willibaldplatz, Am Knie and Pasing, as well as the section under Gotthardstrasse, will be constructed using the so-called cover construction method. In this case, the actual excavation takes place under a concrete cover.

The route tunnels between the Willibaldplatz and Pasing train stations are being built completely underground using a tunnel boring machine.
