Construction industry – Vortex about further gravel extraction plans – District of Munich

A year ago the town hall of Höhenkirchen-Siegertsbrunn received an application for gravel mining, which caused a lot of turbulence. While this application is in the district office for examination, the town hall has now received another application – again during the summer holidays. Although this comes from another company, reported Mayor Mindy Konwitschny (SPD) in the building committee, but concerns the same matter. Specifically, this time it is about an area on the southern outskirts, on the border with the Ayinger district of Dürrnhaar.

According to Konwitschny, the new application is aimed at a good nine-hectare forest area not far from State Road 2078, on which gravel is to be mined for 20 years. The landowner agreed to the plans, said the mayor. She, on the other hand, sees the project critically. “That would be an insane encroachment on nature because it would have to be cleared there.” In addition, the mining area is “very close to the residential development of Dürrnhaar, that is less than 500 meters”. Therefore, she wanted to get in touch with Ayings Mayor Peter Wagner (CSU) as soon as possible. The local council will deal with it, said Konwitschny. “The application is back with our lawyers.”

They now have experience with such requests, after all, they have also dealt with the gravel mining application for the five-hectare area opposite the industrial area at Wächterhof. In order to avert this plan by a Hohenbrunn entrepreneur, the municipal council decided on a two-pronged strategy last year. On the one hand, the town hall is to negotiate with the applicant about an urban development contract in which certain conditions for gravel mining can be stipulated. On the other hand, the municipality has commissioned preliminary investigations that are necessary for the preparation of a partial area use plan. This would identify areas where gravel mining is permitted – while the rest of the municipality would remain outside.

Regardless of this, there is hope to ward off gravel mining on the Muna site due to nature conservation issues. On the part of the district office it is said that the procedure is ongoing. “Unfortunately, we cannot say how long it will drag on.” In the meantime, Konwitschny reported that the Hohenbrunn-based entrepreneur was considering submitting another gravel mining application – for an area on Egmatinger Strasse, near the pilgrimage church. The applicant had presented these plans a year ago, but withdrew them during the meeting – also due to severe criticism from the committee.
