ConsenSys Launches “Linea zkEVM” to Expand Ethereum Scalability

ConsenSys launches Linea zkEVM, which offers faster throughput and transaction costs 15 times lower than Ethereum’s Layer 1.

Linea is an Ethereum layer 2 scaling network that allows developers to build or migrate decentralized applications for Ethereum using zero-knowledge proofs and equivalent Ethereum Virtual Machine ( EVM ), which means that applications can interact seamlessly with the Ethereum blockchain.

Linea is also integrated with ConsenSys’ Ethereum browser wallet, MetaMask, and gives Linea users access to token bridge, swap functions.

ConsenSys founder and CEO, Joseph Lubin, highlights a number of Ethereum Layer 2 protocols and scaling solutions as key components that drive Web3 application development and functionality.

“By combining it with Proof of Stake and its rollup-centric roadmap, Ethereum L2 plays a key role in making significant strides in scalability and usability.”

meanwhile The network also features lower gas fees, high throughput, and low latency, which are key components needed to power NFT tokens, blockchain games, and social applications.

ConsenSys is also launching the Linea Ecosystem Investment Alliance (EIA), which will see more than 30 venture capital firms lend funding and advice assistance to ecosystem builders.

ConsenSys intends to launch the network at the ETHCC in France from July 17, while some withdrawal restrictions may be imposed for the first 90 days. It is fully open to end users.
