Connection price for Mega SIM tariffs is waived: Deal tip?

The mobile phone provider Mega SIM exempts its monthly all-net flat rates from the connection price – but is that a worthwhile deal? We took a closer look at the whole thing.

Mega SIM is still a relatively young mobile phone provider, but the manufacturer is already advertising cheap tariffs with a decent amount of data that can be canceled on a monthly basis. This means maximum flexibility for users. Mega SIM is currently offering its tariffs for a short time without the usual connection fee – this reduces the price by another 39.99 euros. This sounds like a worthwhile offer for anyone who is currently looking for a cell phone tariff with a good price-performance ratio. Is there a catch?

Four tariffs – four times a good option for frequent surfers

Mega SIM currently offers four tariffs, all of which are aimed at frequent surfers. The smallest all-net flat rate includes 25 gigabytes of data volume at a speed of 225 megabits per second (Mbit/s). The other tariffs offer 50 and even 140 gigabytes of data volume included. With the fast download speed, you can easily download large files in a short time, stream high-resolution videos and even play demanding online games without experiencing any lag. The last tariff Mega SIM offers is an Unlimited Smart tariff with unlimited data volume, which, however, only has a capped speed of 15 Mbit/s. Nevertheless, the prices are impressive. The basic monthly price for the smallest tariff is 14.99 euros, for the unlimited tariff 26.99 euros are due – permanently.

The details at a glance:

  • 25 gigabyte all-net flat rate with 225 Mbit/s for 14.99 euros per month, connection fee: zero euros
  • 50 gigabyte all-net flat rate with 225 Mbit/s for 19.99 euros per month, connection fee: zero euros
  • 140 gigabyte all-net flat rate with 225 Mbit/s for 24.99 euros per month, connection fee: zero euros
  • Unlimited Smart with 15 Mbit/s for 26.99 euros, connection fee: zero euros

Are Mega SIM tariffs worth it without an additional connection price?

The Mega SIM tariffs definitely offer some advantages, especially for frequent surfers. If you prefer a high download speed, the 140 gigabyte tariff is ideal. The price of 24.99 euros is pretty good on average, and the elimination of the connection fee is once again the icing on the cake. However, it should be noted that the tariffs are implemented in the Telefónica network (o2). The quality of the O2 network sometimes varies depending on the area in which you live – but this shouldn’t be a problem in larger cities; in rural areas, network coverage should be checked beforehand.

With the Unlimited tariff, the lower download speed should also be taken into account. For a cell phone contract, that’s an average to moderate speed that should be enough for most everyday activities like web browsing, social media, email, and even streaming standard-definition videos. However, if you want to download large files or stream high-resolution videos, 15 Mbit/s might seem a bit slow.

Alternatively: Mobile phone contract with 25 gigabytes can be canceled monthly at o2

With its M-Flex tariff, o2 also offers its mobile customers a good offer for a short time. Instead of 32.99 euros per month, the tariff currently only costs 19.99 euros per month, the connection fee is also eliminated and new customers save almost 40 euros once. o2 goes one step further, because for every year that customers use the monthly terminable Flex tariff, there is an additional five gigabytes of data volume on top. And that with a download speed of a fast 300 Mbit/s, perfect for all Internet applications without delays. At just under 20 euros, the basic monthly fee is slightly more expensive than the Mega SIM tariff.

The details at a glance:

  • o2 Mobile M Flex with 25 gigabytes of data volume plus five gigabytes per year
  • 4G LTE and 5G network with 300 Mbits/s
  • All-net flat rate including telephone and SMS
  • Can be canceled monthly
  • Connection price: zero euros instead of 39.99 euros
  • Monthly basic fee: 19.99 euros instead of 32.99 euros

Thanks to the large data volumes and low monthly fees, Mega SIM’s tariffs are particularly worthwhile for anyone who wants to remain flexible and have the option of monthly cancellation. The o2 tariffs are a little more expensive, but they are in a similar league in terms of price-performance ratio, because they also offer the annual grow advantage and 5G support. Nevertheless, the zero connection price is an additional incentive for a tariff with Mega SIM, especially the 140 gigabyte tariff is a bargain and definitely popular with power surfers.
