If you had to pick a place on earth where oil production could cause the most harm to people and nature, your pick would probably be the rainforests of the Democratic Republic of the Congo. Huge peat bogs store more carbon dioxide there than almost any other region in the world – the equivalent of three years of global CO2 emissions are stored there.
