Protesters in Haiti demand Prime Minister’s resignation

Haiti is the poorest country on the American continent and suffers from a dramatic security situation. Gangs control large parts of the capital. Now there are protests against the government.
In the Caribbean country shaken by gang violence Haiti demonstrators have protested against the government. Participants in several cities called for the resignation of Prime Minister Ariel Henry, local media reported. They set car tires on fire and set up barricades on the streets. Police reportedly used tear gas in the capital Port-au-Prince, where former Prime Minister Claude Joseph took part in the protests. Further protests are expected until Wednesday.
An interim government has been in power in Haiti since the assassination of President Jovenel Moïse in July 2021. The poorest country on the American continent suffers from a dramatic security, supply and health situation. Gangs control large parts of the greater Port-au-Prince area and fight for territory using brutal means.
