A violent argument about the Israel conflict between a student and a teacher caused a stir at the school on Berlin’s Sonnenallee. Soon after, anti-Israel leaflets appeared.

According to police, a demonstration in front of a school in Berlin-Neukölln was banned anti-Israel leaflets were distributed. On Wednesday, police officers on site seized flyers calling for a “liberation struggle,” said a police spokesman. The content is now being examined more closely by the police state security. The leaflets were distributed by at least two people. According to a report in the “Tagesspiegel” they were entitled “Palestine is breaking its chains”.

Despite the ban on demonstrations, according to the police, around 30 to 40 people – mostly schoolchildren – gathered in front of the high school on Sonnenallee that morning. According to the police spokesman, not everyone left the square voluntarily, so the personal details of some were recorded.

An incident related to the Israel conflict occurred at the school on Monday. A student showed up with a Palestine flag, which resulted in a violent confrontation with a teacher.

Parents then planned the demonstration, which was banned by the police. She explained her decision by saying that there is a risk that there will be inciting, anti-Semitic shouts as well as glorification of violence or acts of violence at the meeting. Numerous police officers were on site on Wednesday to enforce the ban. Announcements informed people that the demonstration was not taking place.
