Conference League: FK Partizan Belgrade – 1. FC Cologne live

A week after the bitter 1-0 defeat against Partizan Belgrade in the first leg (October 6, 2022), FC coach Steffen Baumgart’s (50) team have the chance to take revenge today.

In the Serbian capital, billy goats will be out on the grass from 6.45 p.m. There is only one option: points! Because in a balanced Conference League group with Belgrade, Nice and Slovacko, every point will decide who gets ahead.

59th: Partizan’s Belic is down after a duel with Timo Hübers. But the Belgrade player sees a yellow card and has to go off the field for a short treatment.

55th: Captain Jonas Hector sees a yellow card for complaining.

52nd: After a corner there is complete chaos in the FC sixteen. In the end it is Gomes who prevails against Soldo and Pedersen and heads in the ball to make it 2-0.

48th: Steffen Tigges extends a long throw to Adamyan, but he can’t put the ball in the box and shoots too centrally.

Half-time conclusion: FC are completely off the mark in Belgrade. After Hübers’ mega blunder, the hosts deservedly lead 1-0. The fans of Partizan Belgrade then celebrated this extensively with a proper pyro show. The referee then had to interrupt the game several times for a few minutes. But the billy goats could not use the breaks to reflect. If FC still wants to score points in Belgrade, a significant increase in performance is needed.

48th: Diabate sees the yellow card. The attacker comes far too late against Skhiri and rightly gets the yellow card.

45th: The referee gives ten minutes of stoppage time.

42nd: Nikola Soldo saves FC from 2-0 for the hosts! The Croatian centre-back clears a cross for a corner at the last moment, it was close…

40th: Due to the long interruption, there should be an injury time of at least ten minutes.

38th: The referee kicked off the game again. That should have been the last warning for Partizan fans.

36th: The teams are back on the pitch after a five-minute break.

31st: The referee interrupts the game again and the players retreat to the catacombs. Is the game about to crash here?

30th: The FC lacks creativity in attacking midfield. With Hector, the game is currently far too static and the billy goats don’t get into the dangerous rooms.

25th: The billy goats were able to use the short break in the game to catch their breath. So far, however, Steffen Baumgart’s team has not been able to create any clear goal chances.

21st: The clouds of smoke have cleared and the game continues.

18th: The Partizan fans celebrate the goal extensively and ignite everything that a well-stocked fireworks shop has to offer. The game is currently suspended due to poor visibility.

15th: Diabate shocks the FC! Timo Hübers with a hair-raising mistake on the left. The central defender cannot clear a high ball well and Diabate exploits the mistake coldly.

13th: After a wild initial phase with chances on both sides, the game has now calmed down a bit. FC currently has 70 percent possession of the ball.

10th: As in the first leg, FC takes matters into their own hands. The billy goats try to crack Belgrade through possession of the ball.

6th: Partizan also registers. Menig asks Hübers to dance and shoots at the long corner. Marvin Schwäbe can distinguish himself for the first time and is the usual secure support.

5th: Skhiri with the first good chance for FC! The Tunisian midfield motor pulls from 16 meters, but his shot is too central and does not cause any problems for Belgrade keeper Popovic.

3rd: Jonas Hector becomes offensive for the first time. His cross from the right brings FC a corner kick.

1.: The ball is running in Belgrade. The Partizan fans outside the stadium light up a small New Year’s Eve fireworks display to get in the mood.

6:38 p.m.: After the hearty derby defeat against Gladbach last weekend (October 9, 2022), the billy goats have to show morale today. For the team of FC coach Steffen Baumgart, the game in Belgrade is a sign of what is still possible in Europe.

6:34 p.m.: Form check: Belgrade goes into the game against 1. FC Köln with a lot of self-confidence. At the weekend, the Serbs clinched their fifth league win in a row with their 4-0 win over Vozdovac.

6:28 p.m.: Ex-FC and Partizan player Milos Jojic (30) said before the game: “I expect a good game with more goals than in the first leg. I don’t know how Steffen Baumgart will line up. In the first leg, some regular players sat on the bench. Nevertheless, FC played well, especially in the second half. It will definitely be an exciting game.”

6:22 p.m.: In Group D of the Conference League there is a real three-way battle for progress. 1. FC Köln lurk one point behind Nice and Belgrade in 3rd place. But the calculation games of the FC fans should only really start after the evening game between Nice and Slovacko (9 p.m.).

6:16 p.m.: Partizan Belgrade and 1. FC Köln have only met three times in their history. In the 1974 UEFA Cup, Billy Goats easily won 6-1 on aggregate. Hopefully bodes well for the 2022 Conference League remake.

6:10 p.m.: Steffen Baumgart spoke at the press conference before the game about the missing FC fans: “We will miss them when we see the stadium, there would definitely have been 5,000 or 6,000 here. That would have been a nice, interesting atmosphere. But we said we would do everything we could to ensure that they see us play another away game.”

6:04 p.m.: Partizan Belgrade has had an average attendance of just 4,213 in the last five seasons of the Serbian league. However, significantly more spectators are expected against 1. FC Köln.

5:58 p.m.: The Partizana stadium can accommodate 32,700 spectators. However, these seats will only be occupied by a few FC fans today. After the riots in Nice, UEFA fined 1. FC Köln €100,000 and banned the sale of guest tickets for the away games against Belgrade (October 13) and Slovacko (October 27).

5:52 p.m.: Initially sitting on the FC bench: Horn, Urbig, Huseinbasic, Uth, Kilian, Schindler, Duda, Tigges, Maina, Schwirten, Smajic and Strauch.

5:46 p.m.: Jonas Hector said at Wednesday’s press conference: “You don’t play in Belgrade every day. It’s quite an experience for us. I think it will be something different tomorrow when there are spectators. We look forward to that. You could look at the stadium at the final training session, but tomorrow it counts.”

5:42 p.m.: FC captain Jonas Hector seems to be back on the offensive. In the 1-0 defeat against Union Berlin on September 11, 2022, the Saarlander played in attacking midfield.
